M.A.N.D.Y. vs. Booka Shade Feat. Laurie Anderson
O Superman Remixes / Vinyl 1

Listening notes

Released in 2008 on Get Physical Music, this record — catalogued as GPM098.1 — represents the first vinyl installment of the O Superman Remixes series from M.A.N.D.Y. vs. Booka Shade featuring Laurie Anderson. The release sits within the electronic and tech house genres and presents three versions of the track across two sides.

The A-side opens with a remix credited to Matt John, followed by what is listed as the original version of the collaboration. The B-side is given over entirely to a single rework credited to Reboot, titled the 20 Cubans Rework. The catalog number designation — GPM098.1 — suggests this was issued as part of a multi-part vinyl release, with this pressing constituting the first volume.

Laurie Anderson is an American avant-garde artist whose song O Superman was originally released in 1981. The involvement of her work in a tech house context, handled here by M.A.N.D.Y. and Booka Shade — both acts associated with the Get Physical Music label — makes this release a documented meeting point between that earlier experimental tradition and the electronic club music of the mid-to-late 2000s. Get Physical Music, a Berlin-based label, was an active presence in electronic music during this period.

Beyond what the label and tracklist confirm, this draft does not speculate on how the remixes were constructed, their reception, or how they compare sonically. A fact checker should verify whether additional volumes in this series exist under related catalog numbers, and confirm all personnel credits and the completeness of the tracklist as listed here.
