M.A.N.D.Y. vs. Booka Shade Feat. Laurie Anderson
O Superman Remixes / Vinyl 1

Listening notes

Released in 2008 on Get Physical Music, catalog number GPM098.1, this twelve-inch represents the first of what the catalog numbering suggests is a multi-volume vinyl release of remixes built around M.A.N.D.Y. vs. Booka Shade's collaboration with Laurie Anderson on "O Superman." The track takes its title from Anderson's landmark 1981 art-pop recording, and her presence as a featured artist here marks an unlikely crossing of experimental performance art and contemporary electronic music.

The first vinyl in the series carries three versions across its two sides. The A-side opens with a remix credited to Matt John, followed by what is listed simply as the Original, giving listeners a direct point of comparison between the source material as M.A.N.D.Y. and Booka Shade shaped it and at least one outside interpretation. The B-side is given over entirely to Reboot's 20 Cubans Rework, a version whose title alone suggests a degree of creative ambition in its reimagining.

Both M.A.N.D.Y. and Booka Shade were active presences on Get Physical Music at this time, with Booka Shade having co-founded the label, so the release fits naturally within the imprint's catalog rather than representing an outside licensing arrangement. The genres logged against the release are Electronic and Tech House, placing it within the dancefloor-oriented tradition that Get Physical was known for cultivating during this period.

Beyond what the label, catalog number, tracklist, and artist credits confirm, little can be said here with certainty. This draft should be reviewed against additional documentation before publication.
