Masayoshi Soken
Heavensward Vinyl LP

Listening notes

Released in 2021 on Square Enix Music (catalog number SQEX-10847), this vinyl LP collects music by Masayoshi Soken composed for Heavensward, the expansion to Final Fantasy XIV. The record spans eleven tracks across two sides and draws from several distinct areas of the game's soundtrack, including field music, dungeon themes, and raid and trial battle compositions.

Side A opens with the title track "Heavensward" and moves through "Painted Foothills," the daytime theme for the high Dravanian region rendered in both English and Japanese in its full title. "Ink Long Dry" is identified in its subtitle as music from the Gubal Library dungeon, while "Imagination" is associated with the Fractal Continuum. The side closes with "Heroes," the battle theme for the Knights of the Round trial.

Side B draws heavily from the Alexander raid series. "Locus" is tied to Alexander: Gordias, while "Moebius" and "Rise" both carry subtitles connecting them to Alexander: Midas. "Equilibrium" is identified in its subtitle as the theme for the Sophia trial, and "Revenge of the Horde" is linked to the Nidhogg dragon battle. The final track, "Dragonsong," closes the record.

Track durations are not listed in the available release data, and no personnel, pressing, or production details have been confirmed for this draft. The release falls within the Soundtrack, Stage and Screen, and Video Game Music genres. Fact checker should verify all Japanese subtitle romanizations, the accurate expansion and dungeon associations for each track, and any additional release details not captured here before publication.
