Mitch Murder
Selections

Listening notes

Released in 2020 on Electronic Purification Records, Selections (catalog number WAVE 058) is a box set from Swedish electronic artist Mitch Murder, presenting 45 tracks spread across four records — eight sides in total — under the genres of Electronic and Synthwave.

The sheer scale of the release is its most immediately apparent characteristic. With sides running from A through H, the collection encompasses a substantial body of material totaling well over three hours of music. Individual track lengths vary considerably: "Turning Point" at H1 runs 8:55, making it the longest entry on the set, while shorter pieces like "XXXXXX" (F4, 0:51), "Sports" (D2, 1:06), and "Thundercats" (E5, 1:09) occupy less than two minutes apiece. This range suggests the collection draws from different contexts and formats within the artist's catalog, though the precise origins of individual tracks are not detailed here.

Several track titles reference recognizable properties. "Knight Rider Theme" (B1), "Green Hill Zone Theme" (E1), "Guile's Theme" (F3), "Space Harrier" (E6), "Mute City" (C1), and "Street Hawk Redux" (H3) are among those whose titles correspond to well-known television series, video games, and arcade properties from the 1980s and early 1990s. Whether these represent original compositions, arrangements, or reimaginings is not specified in the available documentation.

The remaining tracks carry original or ambiguous titles — among them "Savage," "Daybreak," "Ocean Avenue," "La Morte Della Speranza," and "Summer Of Heat" — distributed across the eight sides without a disclosed organizing principle beyond their sequencing.

As a physical artifact, the box set format places Selections among the more expansive single-artist releases in the synthwave genre's vinyl output. Collectors and researchers seeking pressing details, edition information, or personnel credits should consult the label directly or cross-reference with available discography sources, as those details fall outside the scope of what can be confirmed here.
