Move D
Hydrophonics EP

Listening notes

Move D's Hydrophonics EP, released in 2011 on the Uzuri label as catalog number Uzuri 014, is a three-track vinyl release sitting within the deep house and electronic genres. The EP spans just over twenty minutes across its two sides, with each track given considerable room to unfold.

The A-side opens with "Your Personal Healer," which runs to eight minutes and twenty-six seconds and carries a track subtitle crediting hydraulic guitar by Juju. That single parenthetical detail distinguishes the track on paper, suggesting a collaborative element brought to the production. The second A-side cut, "Things Will Come (...For Those Who Wait)," is noticeably shorter at two minutes and thirty-six seconds, functioning as a distinct contrast in running time to what surrounds it on the record.

The B-side is given over entirely to "Sur Un Bateau Avec Eric," a single track lasting nine minutes and twenty-seven seconds. Its subtitle credits underwater vocals by Eric D Clark, another named contribution that sets the track apart at the level of documentation. The title itself translates roughly from French as "On a Boat with Eric," which connects loosely to the aquatic theme implied by the EP's overall title, Hydrophonics.

The Uzuri label, which issued this release as its fourteenth catalog entry, provided the imprint context for a record that foregrounds collaboration through its credited contributors while remaining rooted in house music traditions. Move D, the Nuremberg-based producer David Moufang, has maintained a long presence in electronic music, and this EP represents one documented point within that ongoing body of work.
