New Order
Vinyl Solution

Listening notes

Released in 1984 on Dali Records (2), Vinyl Solution carries the catalog number DLP-1 and presents nine New Order tracks across two sides of a standard vinyl LP. The release sits at a particular crossroads of the band's catalog, drawing from material the group had developed across the electronic, new wave, synth-pop, and rock terrain they occupied during this period.

Side A opens with "Face Up" and moves through "Thieves Like Us," "Age Of Consent," and "Your Silent Face" before closing with "Sooner Than You Think." Side B begins with "ICB" and "Sunrise," then sequences "The Perfect Kiss" and "Blue Monday" to close the record. That positioning places two of the better-known titles from New Order's discography at the end of the second side, rounding out a tracklist that otherwise draws on album cuts and less prominently circulated material.

The catalog number DLP-1 suggests this may have been among the earlier, if not the first, full-length releases on this particular Dali Records imprint, though no additional information about the label's broader output is available here to confirm that inference with certainty. Track durations are not documented in the available data.

For collectors and researchers working through New Order's extensive release history, Vinyl Solution represents a distinct artifact: a 1984 compilation-style LP issued outside the band's primary label relationships, gathering tracks that span the sound the group was developing in the years following Joy Division. Anyone cataloguing this release should approach it with the understanding that the facts above represent the confirmed baseline, and further details regarding personnel, pressing origin, or liner notes would require consultation of the physical object itself.
