Listening notes
Released in 2023 on Square Enix Music (catalog number SQEX-10956~7), this double-LP set collects music by Nobuo Uematsu drawn from the Pixel Remaster editions of the first six mainline Final Fantasy titles. The release is catalogued under the genres of Stage & Screen and Video Game Music.
The four sides are organized thematically rather than strictly by game. Sides A and B are devoted entirely to combat music, tracing battle themes, fanfares, and final-boss cues from Final Fantasy through Final Fantasy VI. Among the entries on these sides are two woodwind quintet arrangements sourced from Final Fantasy III — "Battle 1 -Woodwind Quintet-" and "Fanfare -Woodwind Quintet-" — which stand apart from the other tracks in their instrumentation. Side A closes with the run of Final Fantasy V battle material before Side B continues it, opening with "Battle At The Big Bridge" and concluding the combat sequence with Final Fantasy VI's "Dancing Mad -Act 4-."
Sides C and D shift in character. Side C gathers overworld and thematic pieces — including "Eternal Wind" from Final Fantasy III, "Terra's Theme" from Final Fantasy VI, and several tracks associated with travel and world exploration across Final Fantasy V. Side D presents opening and prologue material from each of the six games, ending the record with "The Prelude" from Final Fantasy VI and the operatic "Aria Di Mezzo Carattere" in its Japanese-language version.
In total, the release contains 45 tracks spanning all six games represented in the Pixel Remaster series. Track durations are not listed.
