Nobuo Uematsu
Final Fantasy VII Remake And Final Fantasy VII Vinyl

Listening notes

Released in 2020 on Square Enix's own label under catalog number 19075972581, this double-album vinyl set presents music from two distinct sources: the 2020 remake of Final Fantasy VII and the original Final Fantasy VII. The composer credited is Nobuo Uematsu, and the release is categorized across genres including ambient, electronic, soundtrack, and video game music.

The structure of the set is straightforward and worth noting for anyone approaching it as a reference object. Sides A and B collect eight tracks drawn from the Final Fantasy VII Remake score, while Sides C and D gather fourteen tracks from the original Final Fantasy VII. The sequencing allows for a direct comparison of shared material across both halves of the release. Several compositions appear on both sides of the divide — "The Prelude," "Tifa's Theme," "Let the Battles Begin," "Flowers Blooming in the Church," "Turks' Theme," and "Main Theme of Final Fantasy VII" each have a version represented in the Remake section and again in the original game section. This parallel programming is the defining organizational feature of the release.

Titles are presented on the tracklist in both Japanese and English, with the Japanese titles listed first. Among the pieces appearing only in the original Final Fantasy VII portion are "Opening — Bombing Mission," "Shinra, Inc.," "Who…Are You?," "Fight On!," "Fanfare," and "The Chase."

No durations are listed for any track in the available data. Collectors and researchers consulting this entry should verify all personnel, pressing details, and any additional release variants through primary sources before drawing further conclusions.
