Pas De Deux
The Vinyl Collection

Listening notes

Pas De Deux's The Vinyl Collection, released in 2022 on the act's own Pas De Disx label under catalog number PDD2102, brings together fifteen tracks across a multi-disc vinyl format. The release is catalogued under the genres of Electronic, New Wave, Pop, and Synth-pop, situating it within a stylistic tradition that has long made use of synthesizers and rhythm machines as primary compositional tools.

The tracklist spans three sides of vinyl. Side A opens with "The Lonely Guys" at four minutes and thirteen seconds and moves through five additional tracks, including "Little Danny," the Dutch-language "Iedereen Is Zot," "Mani Meme," "Lits Jumeaux," and a 2018 edit of "Take A Cigarette," the longest of the six at four minutes and twenty-five seconds. Side B leads with "Rendez-Vous" before giving considerable runtime to two extended pieces: "A Million Miles" at six minutes and nine seconds, and "Cold Turkey" at six minutes and forty-three seconds, the longest single track on the release. "Instant Karma!" and "Cardiocleptomanie" round out the side.

Side C is devoted almost entirely to variations on "Rendez-Vous," presenting it in five distinct versions: "Rendez-Vous In München," a French Version, a Mix, an English Version, and a closing Instrumental. The five renditions run close in duration, each falling between two minutes and forty-six seconds and three minutes even. The inclusion of this sequence suggests the track held particular significance to the project, though the circumstances behind these versions are not addressed by the available documentation.

The Vinyl Collection carries a total runtime that skews toward the longer end of the tracklist, with Side B in particular offering the release's most expansive listening passages. As a self-released compilation issued under the artist's own imprint, it represents a direct presentation of the Pas De Deux catalog without intermediary label involvement.
