Patrice Bäumel / Adana Twins
Roar Remix / Aufstand Der Massen

Listening notes

Released in 2018 on Watergate Records, catalog number WGVINYL052, this twelve-inch pairs two artists operating within the overlapping territories of electronic music, tech house, and techno. The release presents two tracks across its two sides: the A-side carries "Roar (Adana Twins Remix)," a reworking by Adana Twins of Patrice Bäumel's original, while the B-side presents "Aufstand Der Massen," a title that translates roughly from German as "Uprising of the Masses."

Watergate Records is the label arm of the Berlin club of the same name, and WGVINYL052 sits within the label's ongoing series of vinyl releases, which have consistently drawn from the electronic and techno-adjacent artists associated with that scene. The catalog number places this release at a substantial point within that sequence.

The pairing of a remix on the A-side with what appears to be an original or standalone track on the B-side is a format common to twelve-inch releases in these genres, and this record follows that convention. Patrice Bäumel and Adana Twins are both names associated with European electronic music, and their appearance together on a Watergate release is consistent with the label's documented output during this period.
