Prince
13 Mins Of Pure Red Vinyl

Listening notes

Prince's "13 Mins Of Pure Red Vinyl" was released in 1985 on Red Vinyl Records, catalogued as RV 85. The release is a single-sided vinyl record, with one listed track occupying the A side: the title track, which runs for thirteen minutes exactly.

The release is categorized under the genres of Disco and Funk / Soul, situating it broadly within the stylistic traditions associated with both fields. Beyond the genre tags and runtime, the available documentation does not elaborate on the recording's specific musical content or context within Prince's wider catalog.

The thirteen-minute duration places the track in the extended format territory familiar to dance and funk releases of the era, where longer edits were commonly used to serve DJ and dancefloor applications. Whether this release functioned in that capacity is not something the available facts confirm.

The label name, Red Vinyl Records, shares its name with the format descriptor that appears in the track title itself, though the nature of that relationship — whether the label was created specifically for this release, or whether the title was chosen to reflect the label — is not documented here.

No information is currently available regarding personnel, pressing details, distribution, or the circumstances under which this release was produced. The B side is not listed in the tracklist, and no further documentation accounts for that omission.
