Redtenbacher's Funkestra
The Vinyl Collection

Listening notes

Redtenbacher's Funkestra released The Vinyl Collection in 2018 on RSB Records (2), catalog number RSB73500. The record sits across the Funk, Funk / Soul, and Jazz genres, and its eight tracks are spread evenly across two sides of vinyl.

Side A opens with "Royal Rooster" at five minutes and nine seconds, followed by the comparatively brief "Funktionality" at three minutes and seven seconds. "The Return Of The Manbag" runs five minutes and four seconds, and "Mr Goyle" closes the side at five minutes and two seconds. The four A-side tracks total just under nineteen minutes of playing time.

Side B leads with the record's longest track, "Fred's Haus," which stretches to six minutes and thirty-two seconds. "Dr Hypenstein" follows at three minutes and eight seconds, making it the shortest cut on the side. "Bow Wow" runs five minutes and thirty-five seconds, and "Funky Barbarella" closes the record at five minutes and four seconds.

Across both sides, the tracklist leans toward the five-minute range, with only the two shorter pieces — "Funktionality" and "Dr Hypenstein" — falling under four minutes. The longest and shortest tracks sit on Side B, giving that side a wider spread in running time than Side A, where the four cuts are clustered within a tighter duration range.

The catalog number RSB73500 places this release within the RSB Records (2) catalog. As a 2018 vinyl release occupying three genre designations — Funk, Funk / Soul, and Jazz — The Vinyl Collection reflects a format choice that its title makes explicit. Whether this release compiles previously available material or represents original recordings is not confirmed by the available documentation and should be verified before publication.
