Reversed Reference
May Vinyl

Listening notes

Released in 2019, May Vinyl is a self-released lathe cut from Reversed Reference, issued without a catalog number under the artist's own imprint. The record spans two sides and carries a tracklist of twenty-six pieces in total — nine on the A side and seventeen on the B side — cataloged under the genres of Abstract, Electronic, Experimental, IDM, Sound Collage, and Vaporwave.

The A side opens with "Thoughtful" at 2:56 and moves through tracks including "Try Ya Girl," "Alien Chasm" — the longest selection on the record at 4:43 — and "All Ur Love" at 4:02. The remaining A-side entries are comparatively brief, with "2001," "Too Much," "Cast II," "Dark Energy," and "We'll Talk" each running under two and a half minutes.

The B side is notably more fragmented in structure. Runtimes there range from a brief 0:18 for the closing track "Here's My Collection" to 2:58 for "Neo Tokyo." Several entries suggest self-awareness about the format itself: "Record Shop (Skit)" runs 0:32, "Tea Cut" may be a play on the lathe-cut medium, and the penultimate track "Away Now (Outro)" echoes the earlier B-side entry "Away Now." A track listed simply as "Track 12" clocks in at 0:23. The final sequenced track before the outro is "End-Sanity" at 1:52, with "Here's My Collection" and "Away Now (Outro)" closing the record.

The total program is dense for a lathe cut format, with the B side alone containing seventeen tracks. As a self-released physical object with no catalog number, May Vinyl sits within a DIY tradition common to experimental and vaporwave adjacent releases of its period. Collectors and researchers should verify all additional details — including pressing quantities, physical specifications, and any associated digital releases — independently before publication.
