Ricardo Miranda
Vinyl's Revenge EP

Listening notes

Ricardo Miranda's Vinyl's Revenge EP arrived in 2010 on Minuendo Recordings, catalogued as MND19. Released in vinyl format, the EP sits within the deep house and electronic genres, presenting four tracks across its two sides.

The A-side opens with "Deface," followed by "Turntable Blues." The titles alone suggest a self-aware relationship with the physical format and the culture surrounding it, though what Miranda intended by these choices remains a matter of interpretation. The B-side leads with "Ucantfunkwitdetroit," a title that wears its geographical allegiance plainly, nodding toward Detroit's well-established place in the history of electronic music. The second B-side slot belongs to a remix of that same track, handled by Ordell, giving the EP a degree of internal conversation between versions.

The release takes its name seriously as a statement of format loyalty. Arriving at a moment when digital distribution was reshaping how electronic music reached listeners, an EP titled Vinyl's Revenge and pressed to vinyl carries a certain implicit position, even if the specifics of that position are left to the listener to work out. Whether that framing was playful or pointed, the physical object itself is the delivery mechanism of choice here.

Minuendo Recordings, as the imprint behind this release, carries the catalog number MND19, placing this EP at a specific point in the label's output, though further context about the label's history is outside the scope of what can be confirmed here.
