Rip Slyme
Good Times Vinyl Edition

Listening notes

Released in 2010 on Warner Music Japan, Good Times Vinyl Edition (catalog number WPJL-10003/4) is a double-LP release from Japanese group Rip Slyme, spanning four sides and twenty tracks. The release sits across the genres of hip hop, J-pop, pop, and pop rap, a combination the group had made their own over the course of their career.

The tracklist is substantial by any measure. Sides A and B each carry five tracks, as do sides C and D, bringing the total runtime well into the territory one would expect from a dedicated vinyl edition of a best-of or compiled work. Among the tracks are titles that will be familiar to followers of the group: "楽園ベイベー," "Super Shooter," "Funkastic," "Galaxy," and "Speed King" appear across the first two sides, while the second disc moves through "黄昏サラウンド," "太陽とビキニ," "Love & Hate," and "星に願いを" before closing out with "Bubble Trouble," "Good Times," "Scar," and the specifically dated "マタ逢ウ日マデ2010 ～冨田流～." The inclusion of "Good Day Adidas Remix" on side D is also noted in the tracklist as catalogued.

Track durations across the release are largely in the four-to-five-minute range, with "黄昏サラウンド" running the longest at 5:38 and "Bubble Trouble" among the shorter entries at 4:02.

As a vinyl edition issued under a major label in 2010, the release represents a physical format commitment to a catalogue that had been built across multiple studio albums.
