Roc Project, The Feat. Tina Arena
Never (Vinyl Two)

Listening notes

Released in 2003 on Tommy Boy Silver Label, "Never (Vinyl Two)" by The Roc Project featuring Tina Arena carries the catalog number TB 2404-0. The release presents three remixes of the track "Never" across its two sides, situating it within a cluster of genres that includes breaks, electronic, house, and trance.

The A-side is given over entirely to the Max Reich Remix, running at 8 minutes and 53 seconds. The B-side splits between two further reworkings: the Johnny Budz Breaks Mix at 6 minutes and 46 seconds, and the DJ Tiesto Remix at 7 minutes and 48 seconds. The designation "Vinyl Two" in the title suggests this release was part of a multi-volume vinyl series for the single, though the contents and numbering of any companion releases are outside the scope of this entry.

Tommy Boy Silver Label was a subsidiary of Tommy Boy Records, a label with roots in hip-hop that had by the early 2000s expanded its output into electronic and dance-oriented releases. Tina Arena is an Australian singer who had established a commercial profile in the 1990s, particularly in Australia and Europe. The Roc Project served as the production vehicle for the release.

The tracklist reflects a common promotional format of the era, in which a single would be packaged across multiple twelve-inch vinyl releases, each carrying a distinct set of remixes oriented toward different corners of the dance music market. With a combined runtime of over twenty-three minutes spread across three cuts, the release functions as a DJ-oriented format, prioritizing extended mixes suited to club play.
