Silent Poets
For Nothing Remix (Limited Edition Vinyl Vol.2)

Listening notes

Released in 1998 on Idyllic Records, *For Nothing Remix (Limited Edition Vinyl Vol.2)* by Silent Poets carries the catalog number TFJC-38218. The release sits across genres that were in active conversation during that period — downtempo, drum and bass, electronic, and hip hop — and assembles a roster of remixers whose names were embedded in those same scenes.

The six tracks are spread across two sides. The A-side opens with a Coldcut remix of "Border," followed by 4 Hero's treatment of "This Is Not An Instrumental," and closes with a Silent Poets self-remix of "Light And Shade." The B-side carries a Yoshihiro Hanno remix of "Check L'Intellect," Peshay's version of "Don't Break The Silence," and Attica Blues closing the record with their remix of "Cherry Tree."

The designation as Vol.2 indicates this was part of a series, with at least one preceding volume existing in the same format. The "Limited Edition" qualifier is stated in the title itself, though no specific pressing figures are documented here.

What the tracklist makes plain is the range of contributors brought in to reframe Silent Poets' source material. Coldcut, 4 Hero, Peshay, and Attica Blues each represented distinct corners of the electronic and hip hop landscape in the late 1990s, and Yoshihiro Hanno's inclusion adds a further dimension to the geographic and stylistic spread of the project. Whether any of these remixes diverge substantially from their originals is not something the available information addresses.

This is a draft for fact-checking purposes. Track durations were not available and have been omitted.
