Silverkick
Vinyl Silk EP

Listening notes

Silverkick's Vinyl Silk EP appeared in 1998 on Fused & Bruised, catalogued as FABR013T. The four-track release spreads across two sides of vinyl, with "You Are My Heroine" and "Ancillary" occupying the A-side, and "Vinyl Silk Emotion" and "Fuller" filling out the B-side.

Fused & Bruised was a label operating within the broader landscape of late-1990s electronic music, a period that saw considerable activity across the genres the EP is associated with. Those genres — Big Beat, Downtempo, Electronic, Experimental, and Trip Hop — reflect the range of stylistic territory that was being mapped and contested during that era, when artists and labels were frequently drawing across category lines rather than settling into a single sound.

The EP's title track, "Vinyl Silk Emotion," shares its name with the release itself, a choice that places it at least nominally at the center of the project. Beyond the tracklist and its genre classifications, the available documentation does not extend to personnel, recording circumstances, or the specifics of how the release was received or distributed.

As a vinyl-only release from 1998, the Vinyl Silk EP sits within a moment when the format carried a particular significance for electronic music culture, though the details of this pressing — its production, any variants, and its subsequent history — fall outside what can be confirmed here. What the catalog number FABR013T does indicate is its place within the Fused & Bruised sequence, suggesting the label had accumulated a body of releases by the time Silverkick appeared on its roster.
