Silversurfer / Jahcoozi
Rebel Futurism (Session One Vinyl Sampler)

Listening notes

Released in 2004 on Crosstown Rebels, the vinyl sampler catalogued as CRM 006B brings together two acts — Silversurfer and Jahcoozi — under the banner of Rebel Futurism (Session One Vinyl Sampler). The release sits within a broader series framing, with the "Session One" designation suggesting it formed part of a planned sequence of sampler releases from the label.

The record spans two sides. The A-side presents "Welcome To Berlin," offered here in an exclusive remix credited to Tekel. The AA-side carries "Fish" in a version identified as the Team Natascha Mix. Both tracks are listed without durations in available documentation.

Crosstown Rebels, the label behind the release, positioned the record across several genre categories: Electro, Electronic, House, and Techno. The spread of those descriptors reflects the kind of cross-genre territory that characterised a portion of early-to-mid 2000s independent electronic releases, though the degree to which this sampler represented the label's broader aesthetic at that time is a matter for deeper research.

The vinyl format and sampler designation are consistent with a promotional or limited-run function, as was common practice within the electronic music industry during this period, though the specific intent or distribution scope of this particular pressing is not confirmed by the available facts.

The pairing of Silversurfer and Jahcoozi on a single release, and the involvement of remix contributors Tekel and Team Natascha, indicates a collaborative or community-oriented approach to the release, though the nature of those relationships falls outside what the verified record supports.
