Taeyang Rise + Best Collection Vinyl LP

Listening notes

Released in 2014 on YG Entertainment, the Taeyang Rise + Best Collection Vinyl LP (catalog number YGK 0397) is a box set pressing that brings together material spanning the South Korean artist's solo output up to that point. The release is cataloged under several genre designations: Ballad, Contemporary R&B, Funk / Soul, K-pop, and Pop.

The set is spread across four sides on what is presumed to be a double LP configuration, accommodating fifteen tracks in total. Side A opens with "Intro (Rise)" and continues through "눈, 코, 입 (Eyes, Nose, Lips)," "새벽한시 (1AM)," "Stay With Me," and "아름다워 (Body)." Side B carries "링가링가 (Ringa Linga)," "이게 아닌데 (This Ain't It)," "버리고 (Let Go)," and "Love You To Death." The second record opens on Side C with "Superstar," "Connection," and "I Need A Girl," before Side D closes the collection with "Where U At," "Wedding Dress," and "나만바라봐 (Only Look At Me)."

The tracklist mixes Korean-language titles with English-language ones, reflecting the bilingual character of much of the material. The "Best Collection" framing in the title, combined with the presence of titles associated with different periods of the artist's career, suggests this was positioned as a compiled retrospective alongside the Rise album content, though the precise editorial decisions behind the sequencing are not documented in the available information.

As a box set format issued by a major Korean entertainment label, this release represents an early example of the domestic vinyl market engaging with K-pop catalog material during a period when physical formats were being revisited across the industry. No track durations are listed in the available catalog data.
