Thundercat
Drunk

Listening notes

Thundercat's Drunk, released on Brainfeeder (catalog number BF064) in 2017, arrived in vinyl format as a box set. The album spans a substantial 23 tracks distributed across eight sides — labeled A through H — a configuration that places it among the more physically expansive box set releases of its era.

The tracklist reflects a genre scope that is difficult to reduce to a single category. Brainfeeder classifies Drunk across Contemporary R&B, Electronic, Experimental, Funk/Soul, Fusion, Hip Hop, Jazz, Jazz-Funk, and Neo Soul, a list that gives some indication of the range collectors and listeners can expect to move through over the course of the eight sides. Individual track durations vary considerably, from the 25-second "I Am Crazy" on side G to the four-minute "Inferno," also on side G, suggesting the album moves through fragmentary sketches and more developed compositions without signaling a clean distinction between the two.

The eight-side structure means a listener working through the album in sequence will handle the records frequently. Sides A and B open the set, with side A running four tracks across just under seven minutes of combined listed time. The album's title track appears near the close of the final side, at position H1, followed by "The Turn Down" and "DUI" to conclude the sequence.

For collectors, the box set format and Brainfeeder catalog number BF064 are the primary identifying markers for this pressing. Those researching this release should verify matrix information, insert contents, and any variant pressings independently, as those details are outside the scope of what is confirmed here.
