Listening notes

Released by Harmless in 2013 under catalog number HURTXVINYL112, Philadelphia International Classics: The Tom Moulton Remixes - Special Vinyl Edition is a box set collecting Tom Moulton's remix work drawn from the Philadelphia International Records catalog. The set spans genres cataloged as disco, funk, soul, and rhythm and blues.

The format is vinyl, and the sheer physical scope of the release reflects the breadth of the tracklist. Spread across sixteen sides — labeled A through P — the set contains thirty-one tracks. Running times are generous throughout. Side C opens with "The Love I Lost" at 12 minutes and 28 seconds, and "Love Is The Message" on Side F runs 11 minutes and 30 seconds. "Don't Leave Me This Way" on Side H extends to 11 minutes and 3 seconds. Many other tracks occupy the eight-to-ten-minute range, including "Back Stabbers," "Bad Luck," "I Love Music," and "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine."

The tracklist draws from a recognizable portion of the Philadelphia International catalog. Titles such as "T.S.O.P The Sound Of Philadelphia," "Love Train," "When Will I See You Again," and "Nights Over Egypt" appear alongside lesser-circulated titles including "Year Of Decision," "Trusting Heart," and "Where Will You Go When The Party's Over." The final side, Side P, contains a single track, "Where Will You Go When The Party's Over," at 9 minutes and 5 seconds.
