Tom Moulton
Philly ReGrooved - Tom Moulton Remixes (Special Vinyl Edition)

Listening notes

Released by Harmless in 2013 under catalog number HURTXVINYL122, Philly ReGrooved - Tom Moulton Remixes (Special Vinyl Edition) is a box set collecting forty tracks of Tom Moulton remix work drawn from the disco, funk, and soul repertoire associated with the Philadelphia sound. Spread across sides A through P — sixteen sides in total — the set represents a substantial commitment to the vinyl format at a time when such large-scale box sets remained comparatively uncommon for catalogue remix material of this kind.

The track sequencing gives some indication of the scope involved. Individual cuts range in duration from just over four minutes to nearly thirteen, with "The Way You Love Me" on side M running to 12:54 and "When The Game Is Played On You" on side K reaching 10:27. Several other tracks exceed nine minutes, among them "Watcha Gonna Do" at 9:49, "Put Yourself In My Place" at 8:42, and "Look Me Up" at 10:24. The extended running times across the collection are consistent with the remix format, where structural expansion of source material is a defining characteristic of the work rather than an incidental feature.

Titles in the set include recognizable Philadelphia-era songs such as "Could It Be I'm Falling In Love," "One Of A Kind (Love Affair)," "Hold Back The Night," and "Be Thankful For What You've Got," alongside less frequently anthologized cuts. The full sequence runs from side A through side P without interruption in the lettering, suggesting a continuous sixteen-disc configuration, though the precise physical packaging details of the box set are not documented here and should be confirmed independently.
