Listening notes

Released in 2002 on the Vestax label, PDX-2000 Vinyl Melody Software 3 (Sound Effects) carries the catalog number CML-VESTAX-SFX and is catalogued under the genres of DJ Battle Tool, Electronic, Non-Music, and Special Effects. The record is part of a numbered series, this being the third installment, and was produced in association with Vestax, a company known at the time for manufacturing DJ equipment including turntables.

The record spans two sides and contains a total of 39 tracks, none of which carry listed durations in available documentation. Side A opens with a set of recognizable environmental and event sounds: "Air Raid," "Ambulance," "Fire Engine," two jet variations, "Ship Whistle," "Crash," "Superman," "X-Plosion," "Gong," "OB Copter," and "Weird." It closes with a run of crowd response sounds — "Rise," "Noise Delay," "Big Cheer," "Applause," "Applause Light," and "Applause Small."

Side B shifts toward synthesized and electronic textures. Titles include "Synth Siren," "Filter Death," "Lo-Hi Sweeps," "Laser," "Nuclear Winter," "Feel Da Bass," "Res Sweep," "Wobble," "Quick Waves," "Short Sweep," "Rez Shot," "Acid Rain," "Bug Wah," and "Bug Wah 2." The side concludes with a further group of motion and vehicle effects: "Car Pass," "Car Stop," "Transporter," "Transporter 2," "Copter," "Synth Pass," and "Rubber Band."

The release is classified as a Non-Music title, consistent with its function as a source of discrete sound effects rather than composed musical works. Its placement in the DJ Battle Tool genre suggests it was intended for use in performance or competitive DJ contexts.
