All Good Vinyl Classic Drum+Bass Sessions PT.1

Listening notes

Released in 2002 on Copasetik Recordings, All Good Vinyl Classic Drum+Bass Sessions PT.1 is a compilation CD catalogued as COPA 029 CD. As the title indicates, it draws from the drum and bass and broader electronic genres, presenting sixteen tracks that together run well over an hour of material.

The tracklist suggests a varied approach to the form. Alongside original productions — among them "Playboys," "Casino Royale," "Future Realities Pt. 1," "Destiny," "Atmospheric Funk," "Strangelove," "Spacewalk," "U Down," and "Come To Me" — the compilation includes a number of remixed versions. "Deep Sleep" appears in a Total Assault Remix, "Precipice" in an Aquasky Remix, and "Destiny" receives a second treatment via a Flytronix Remix. The track "29 Rivers" is represented twice, in both an Aquasky Remix and an Intense Remix, while "Future Realities" is split across two parts. Track lengths vary considerably, from the brief 2:25 of "Casino Royale" to the 7:00 of "Future Realities Pt. 1," with most cuts falling in the four-to-six minute range typical of the genre.

The "PT.1" designation in the title implies this release was conceived as the first installment in a potential series, though what followed under that banner is not addressed by the available information.

The compilation's framing around the phrase "All Good Vinyl" points toward a label or curatorial identity rooted in the vinyl culture that shaped drum and bass during its formative years, even as this particular release arrived in CD format. Beyond these structural details, the available documentation does not extend further, and additional claims about personnel, production, or the release's place within the label's history would require independent verification.
