AQ Total Vinyl 01 - Alenovo

Listening notes

Released in 2020 on Aquarius Records (catalog number LP 13-20), AQ Total Vinyl 01 - Alenovo is a various artists vinyl compilation that brings together nine tracks spread across two sides. The release sits at the intersection of several genre categories, among them downtempo, electro, funk, synth-pop, and pop, suggesting a compilation that draws from a reasonably broad stylistic range within the wider electronic and funk traditions.

Side A opens with "Frka" at four minutes and twenty-two seconds, followed by "Nikog Ja Ne Krivim" at four minutes and fifty-eight seconds, the longest track on the record. The third and fourth positions on Side A are occupied by remixes: "Čuvar Močvara I Trava" in a version credited to Markos, and "Svijet U Meni" in a version credited to Yammat, both running just over four minutes. The presence of two remixes on Side A alone points to some degree of curation around reworked material alongside original recordings.

Side B carries five tracks. "Tvoje Lice Se Promijenilo" opens at four minutes and twenty-six seconds, followed by "Sutra," "Sreća," and "Od Ljubavi," which run between three minutes and fifty-three seconds and four minutes and nineteen seconds respectively. The side closes with "I'll Give You My Love," the compilation's sole English-language title, at three minutes and thirty-five seconds. The predominantly non-English track titles suggest the compilation has ties to a South Slavic language context, though the specific regional or national scope is not confirmed by the available information.
