Bass Addict Records VS Vinyl Bleu 01

Listening notes

Released in 2023 on the French label VinylBleu.fr, *Bass Addict Records VS Vinyl Bleu 01* (catalog number BAR VS VB 01) is a four-track vinyl release sitting at the intersection of electronic music and freetekno. The record's title frames it as a collaborative or competitive encounter between Bass Addict Records and Vinyl Bleu, a framing that fits comfortably within a freetekno culture that has long organized itself around crews, sound systems, and collective identities rather than individual star power.

The release carries four tracks spread across two sides. Side A opens with "BadBoySound" and continues with "Drogue Dure," while Side B presents "Kass" followed by "Outter Space Invocator." The track titles alone gesture toward the genre's characteristic blend of raw energy and subcultural reference, though no artist credits or duration information are available for any of the four cuts.

Freetekno as a genre has historically maintained a complicated relationship with commercial infrastructure, and a release jointly credited to two labels rather than individual producers reflects that collectivist orientation. VinylBleu.fr, as the issuing label, appears to operate within the French electronic underground, a scene with its own distribution networks and communities that have sustained vinyl culture independently of mainstream market pressures.

Beyond these documented details, the specifics of the record's production, personnel, and reception remain unconfirmed. What the facts do establish is a 2023 vinyl artifact positioned within a genre that continues to find the format meaningful, released through a label bearing a name that makes its medium something close to a mission statement.
