Blast First Petite Alan Vega 70th Vinyl Series Radio Promo CD #1

Listening notes

Released in 2008 on Blast First Petite under catalog number PTYT/PCD001, this promotional CD was issued as part of a series marking Alan Vega's 70th birthday. Designated as Radio Promo CD #1, it was not a standard commercial release but a purpose-built promotional item, a distinction that collectors and researchers should note when consulting discographic records.

The disc spans six tracks and draws from material associated with Vega across genres cataloged as classic rock, electronic, experimental, and rock. The tracklist opens with "Dream Baby Dream" at 6:58, followed by a live 1978 version of the same title running 3:51. The remaining four tracks are "Mr Ray" (5:30), "Shadazz" (4:18), a live 1980 performance of "Radiation" (5:10), and "Rocket USA" (3:55). The inclusion of two live recordings, one dated to 1978 and one to 1980, gives the selection a retrospective character, though no further information about the circumstances of those performances is available from confirmed sources.

Blast First Petite, the label responsible for this release, operated as a imprint associated with the broader Blast First enterprise. The series title references a vinyl series despite this particular item being issued on CD, suggesting the promotional disc was connected to a wider campaign that may have included vinyl components under the same birthday-marking initiative.

Because this item was issued as radio promo material, its distribution would have been directed toward broadcasters rather than retail channels. Personnel, recording locations, and production credits are not available in the verified record for this entry and are omitted here accordingly. Researchers seeking additional detail should consult label documentation or contemporary promotional materials from the 2008 campaign.
