Cruise Music Vinyl Jams Vol 2

Listening notes

Cruise Music Vinyl Jams Vol 2 is the second release on the Cruise Music label, issued in 2020 under the catalog number CM002. The compilation arrives on vinyl and draws from three related genres — disco, electronic, and house — presenting four tracks across two sides.

The record is laid out simply and practically. Side one, labeled "This Side," opens with "Straight On" at six minutes and five seconds, followed by "For Your Love" at five minutes and thirteen seconds. Side two, labeled "That Side," leads with "Feels Like Dancing" at six minutes and nineteen seconds, closing with "Up & Down" at five minutes and twenty-five seconds. The total running time across all four tracks amounts to just under twenty-three minutes.

The sequencing gives each side a pair of tracks with roughly comparable lengths, keeping both sides balanced without any single cut dominating the runtime. The genre framing — disco, electronic, and house — places the release within a tradition of dance-oriented compilation records that have long found a home on twelve-inch vinyl, a format historically associated with extended club play.

As a volume in a numbered series, CM002 follows directly from whatever established the Cruise Music label's identity with its first release, though the specifics of that release fall outside the scope of this record. The decision to use descriptive side labels, "This Side" and "That Side," rather than conventional A and B designations, is a minor but notable presentational choice that sets the release's physical experience slightly apart from standard labeling conventions.
