DE9 | Transitions Vinyl Sampler

Listening notes

Released in 2006 on Richie Hawtin's M_nus label, the DE9 | Transitions Vinyl Sampler carries the catalog designation MINUS 34 Test, identifying it as a sampler tied to the DE9 | Transitions release on that imprint. The record presents four tracks across two sides: "Rancor Keeper" and "Turret" on the A-side, and "Bach To Back" and "Like Ancient" on the B-side. No individual track durations are documented for this release.

The M_nus label, operating out of Windsor, Ontario and Berlin, has been a consistent vehicle for minimal and electronic music since its founding, and this sampler sits within that broader catalog context. The genres associated with the release — ambient, electronic, minimal, and techno — reflect the range that the DE9 series occupied within Hawtin's output at the time.

The catalog suffix "Test" in MINUS 34 Test suggests this pressing occupies a specific functional designation within M_nus's internal cataloging system, though the precise meaning of that designation as it pertains to distribution or pressing intent is not documented here and should be verified independently.

Beyond the tracklist and label details, further information about personnel, individual track credits, pressing specifications, or the relationship between this sampler and the full DE9 | Transitions release has not been confirmed and is not represented in this draft. A fact checker should verify whether additional documentation exists that could clarify the sampler's scope and any credited contributors before this entry is finalized.
