Various
Delicious Vinyl All-Stars - Rmxxology

Listening notes

Released in 2008 on Delicious Vinyl (catalog number DV 9040), Rmxxology is a various artists compilation presented under the Delicious Vinyl All-Stars banner. The record was issued on vinyl and spans three double-sided records, accumulating fifteen tracks across six sides.

The compilation draws from the Delicious Vinyl catalog, submitting a range of the label's known titles to outside remixers. Source material includes "Bust A Move," "Wild Thing," "Runnin'," "Passin' Me By," "Sittin' On Chrome," "Know How Theme," "Slaughtahouse," and tracks associated with Fatlip. The remixers credited across the tracklist include Don Rimini, Peaches, Pink Enemy, Breakbot, Mr. Flash, Hot Chip, Aaron LaCrate and Debonair Samir, and a contributor listed as Philippians. The album opens with "Freak-A-Zoid (RMXXOLOGY Theme)" at five minutes and thirty-four seconds, which functions as a stated theme for the project.

The genres listed for this release are notably wide, encompassing abstract, breakbeat, disco, electro, funk and soul, hip hop, hip-house, house, instrumental, pop, pop rock, rock, and folk, world and country categories. Whether any single track accounts for each of those genre designations or whether the breadth reflects the collective range of the compilation is not specified in available documentation.

A notable structural feature of the release is the inclusion of instrumental versions across sides E and F. Five of the vocal tracks are represented in instrumental form, among them the Breakbot, Pink Enemy, Philippians, Mr. Flash, and Hot Chip remixes. This brings the total running content to a length appropriate for a triple vinyl release.
