Delicious Vinyl All-Stars - Rmxxology Deluxe Edition

Listening notes

Released in 2008 on Delicious Vinyl (catalog number DV9040), Rmxxology Deluxe Edition is a two-disc compilation credited to the Delicious Vinyl All-Stars. The set draws on the label's catalog, presenting reworked versions of tracks associated with Delicious Vinyl alongside a selection of original recordings.

The first disc collects fifteen remixes spanning a wide range of genres — the release is tagged across abstract, breakbeat, disco, electro, funk, soul, hip-hop, hip-house, house, pop, pop rock, rock, and folk and world music, suggesting a deliberate breadth in the remixers recruited for the project. Contributors listed in the tracklist include Diplo, Hot Chip, Peaches, Breakbot, Mr. Flash, Don Rimini, Pink Enemy, Aaron LaCrate and Debonair Samir, and an entry attributed to Eminem. The source material includes Delicious Vinyl catalog titles such as "Bust A Move," "Wild Thing," "Funky Cold Medina," "Passin' Me By," "Runnin'," and "What's Up Fatlip?", among others. An opening track, "Freak-A-Zoid Robotz (RMXXOLOGY Theme)," runs 5:34 and frames the compilation with a purpose-built piece.

The second disc mirrors much of the first disc's tracklist in instrumental form, accounting for eleven of its fifteen tracks. The remaining four positions on disc two — "Wild Thing," "Know How," "Soul Flower (Remix)," and "Born To Roll" — appear without remix attributions in the tracklist, distinguishing them structurally from the remixed material elsewhere on the release.

In total the release contains thirty tracks across two discs. The deluxe designation and the dual-disc structure, with its systematic inclusion of instrumental versions, indicate this was conceived as an expanded edition rather than a standard single-disc release.
