Delicious Vinyl - Waxing Off: The First Decade

Listening notes

Released in 1999, Delicious Vinyl — Waxing Off: The First Decade is a vinyl compilation issued by Delicious Vinyl under catalog number 61044-78120-1. As the title indicates, the release marks the label's first ten years in operation and gathers material from across that span into a single collection spanning genres cataloged as acid jazz, electronic, and hip hop.

The compilation is pressed across four sides of vinyl, with sixteen tracks distributed across the double-record set. Side A opens with "Wild Thing" and "Bust A Move" before closing with "Give It Here," while Side B carries four tracks: "Funky Cold Medina," "Mentirosa," "Never Stop," and "Bonafied Funk." Side C moves through "Passin' Me By," "Born To Roll," "Boom Shak-A-Tack," and "Dream On Dreamer," and Side D closes the set with "Runnin'," "Talkin' Bout Bank (Funk Mode Mix)," "Send My Love (Send One Your Love)," and "Goldmine."

Track lengths across the set are relatively consistent, generally falling in the four-minute range, with "Passin' Me By" at 5:03 and "Goldmine" at 5:10 representing the longest entries, and "Talkin' Bout Bank (Funk Mode Mix)" at 3:38 the shortest. The total runtime across all sixteen tracks runs to just over one hour.

As a label retrospective, the compilation presents an opportunity to survey Delicious Vinyl's output across acid jazz, electronic, and hip hop territory in a single physical format. No additional personnel, production, or annotation details are available for verification in this draft.
