Dissymmetrical Vinyl 02

Listening notes

Dissymmetrical Music returned to vinyl in 2018 with the second installment in their physical release series, catalogued as DSSMV02. The compilation brings together four tracks spanning drum n bass, electronic, and jungle — genres with deep roots in UK underground culture — across two sides of a single record.

Side A opens with "Don't Trust The Words," the longest cut on the release at eight minutes and twenty-four seconds, followed by "So Good" at five minutes and fifty-five seconds. Side B carries "Influence" at six minutes and fifty seconds, closing out with "Vostok1 (Remix)" at seven minutes and thirty-one seconds. The total runtime across all four tracks lands at just under twenty-nine minutes, a reasonably generous spread for a single vinyl release in these genres.

The presence of a remix — "Vostok1 (Remix)" — as the closing track suggests the label was working with existing material alongside what may be original compositions, though the source and context of that original version are not confirmed here and should be verified before publication.

As the second entry in the Dissymmetrical Vinyl series, DSSMV02 points to a label with at least some sustained commitment to physical formats during a period when vinyl was seeing renewed commercial interest broadly across the music industry. Whether the series continued beyond this second volume is not confirmed by the available information.

This is a draft for fact-checker review. Track artist credits, personnel, pressing details, and any information about the label's broader catalog have not been confirmed and are not included above.
