D.J.s On Vinyl Vol. 1

Listening notes

D.J.s On Vinyl Vol. 1 arrived in 1991 on New Generation Records, carrying the catalog number NGR001. Released as a various artists compilation on vinyl, the record presents five tracks spread across two sides, working within the genres of electronic, garage house, and house music.

Side A opens with "Oh! Larry," followed by "Music Mental #1" and "Music Mental #2 (Midnight)," the latter title suggesting a nocturnal variation on its predecessor. Side B carries two tracks: "It's So Good" and "Taste The Bass." The sequencing places the two-part Music Mental pairing at the close of the first side, while Side B rounds out the record with its remaining entries.

The catalog number NGR001 indicates this was the label's inaugural release, positioning D.J.s On Vinyl Vol. 1 as the opening entry in what the title frames as a planned series. Whether subsequent volumes followed under the New Generation Records imprint is not confirmed here and would require additional verification.

As a 1991 compilation operating across house and garage house, the record exists within a period when both genres were active and being documented on independent labels releasing material directly to DJs and record shops. The various artists format, combined with the DJ-focused title, reflects a common approach of the era in which labels packaged material suited for club and DJ use.

No track durations are available for this release. Personnel, production credits, and additional label information are not confirmed in the available facts and have been omitted from this draft accordingly. A fact checker should verify all label details, any continuation of the series, and whether additional credits can be sourced before publication.
