Don't Be Leftout Vinyl Sampler 01

Listening notes

Released in 2007 on Leftroom Records, "Don't Be Leftout Vinyl Sampler 01" carries the catalog number LEFTLP001S, a designation that places it as the label's inaugural sampler release in vinyl format. The record collects four tracks across two sides, each situated within the electronic, minimal, and techno genres that defined a particular strand of club music during that period.

Side A opens with "Bodenturnen Dub (Skoozbot Remix)," a remix credit that points to at least some degree of outside involvement in shaping the track's final form. It is followed by "Uptown." Side B presents "Clinton's Take" and closes with the distinctively titled "Yeahuhhuhrightthatsit," a title whose run-on construction suggests a certain irreverence consistent with the aesthetic sensibilities common to underground electronic music of the era.

As the first entry in Leftroom's sampler series — implied by the "01" in the title — the release appears intended to function as an introduction to the label's output rather than a standalone artist statement. Sampler releases of this kind were a practical tool for independent electronic labels at the time, offering distributors, DJs, and buyers a curated cross-section of a label's sound in a single, cost-effective package.

The release is credited to "Various" artists, indicating that the four tracks do not share a single originating artist, though the specific contributors are not detailed here. Leftroom, operating as an independent imprint within the broader electronic music landscape, used this release to establish a catalog identity, with LEFTLP001S marking its earliest documented vinyl output.
