DuD Presenterar Andra Vinylen

Listening notes

DuD Presenterar Andra Vinylen is a various artists compilation released in 1983 on Dud (Drag Utan Drog), carrying the catalog number DuD 002-83. The label name itself — Drag Utan Drog, meaning roughly "kick without drugs" in Swedish — signals something about the context in which this release operated, though the specifics of the label's founding or mission are not documented here.

The record is catalogued across the genres of electronic, experimental, power pop, punk, and rock, a spread that alone suggests the compilation was not built around a single sound or scene. Fourteen tracks are distributed across two sides, seven per side. The Swedish-language titles dominate — "Söta Vän (Elsa)," "För Tidig Blues," "Mardröm," "Bacillen," "Rotlösa Barn," "Tusen Mil," "Snömannen," "Du Lever, Men Va Fan," "Brunögas Hämnd," and "Bädd Av Eld" among them — though English-language titles also appear, including "Romantic 'Oon," "Live With You," and "Back To You." The alphanumeric track "Nr. 820920" sits alongside these without further explanation available in the documentation.

The catalog number's suffix, 002-83, places this as the label's second release in 1983, consistent with the title's own framing: Andra Vinylen translates to "the second vinyl," positioning the release explicitly within a series rather than as a standalone statement.

Track durations are not documented, and no personnel, producer, or pressing information is available in the verified record. What can be said is that this compilation exists as a physical artifact of a specific, named Swedish independent label operating in 1983, presenting a deliberately varied roster of material under a single roof. For researchers tracing independent Swedish releases from this period, the catalog number and label name provide concrete reference points.
