Final Fantasy IX 25th Anniversary Vinyl - Timeless Tale -

Listening notes

Square Enix Music issued this vinyl release in 2025 under catalog number SQEX-11177 to mark the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy IX, which originally appeared in 2000. The record is organized around that anniversary conceit in a straightforward way: the two sides are labeled "2000" and "2025," placing the original material on Side A and newly titled versions on Side B.

Side A opens with "Melodies Of Life～Final Fantasy" at 7:39, the longest track on the record, followed by "Melodies Of Life [The Layers Of Harmony]" at 3:24, and closes with "記憶の歌 / A Song From Her Memory" at 1:53. Side B presents three tracks carrying the subtitle "Timeless Tale": "Melodies Of Life -Timeless Tale-" and its English-language counterpart, each running 5:53, and "記憶の歌 -Timeless Tale- / A Song From Her Memory -Timeless Tale-" at 3:36. The symmetry between the two sides is deliberate — each side contains the same three thematic pieces, with the "2025" side offering the Timeless Tale versions across matching running times for the latter two tracks.

The genres listed are Stage & Screen and Video Game Music. The record is a focused, single-artist thematic release rather than a broad anthology, concentrating entirely on material associated with "Melodies Of Life" and "A Song From Her Memory" across both sides. At six tracks and a total confirmed runtime derived from the listed durations, this is a concise release built around a small cluster of pieces revisited for the occasion.
