Flying Vinyl: February 2017

Listening notes

Flying Vinyl: February 2017 is a vinyl box set released in 2017 on the Flying Vinyl label, catalogued as Issue 21. The release is part of the Flying Vinyl subscription series and presents ten tracks spread across multiple records, with each track occupying its own individually lettered side, running from A through J.

The genres associated with this release span a considerable range, encompassing alternative rock, electronic, indie pop, indie rock, pop, and rock. This breadth suggests the February 2017 installment drew from a fairly wide pool of contemporary artists rather than anchoring itself to a single stylistic corner of the independent music landscape, though the specific artists behind each track are not detailed here.

The ten tracks are titled "Manicure," "Whatever You Want," "Chronic Sunshine," "Social Sites," "Like A Lady," "Wear My Heart," "Something," "End Of Time," "Shadow And Light," and "65 Roses." No track durations are documented for this release.

Flying Vinyl operated as a subscription-based service delivering curated seven-inch vinyl records to members on a monthly basis, and this box set represents the label's output for February of that year under the Flying Vinyl (2) imprint designation. The format of the release — a box set containing multiple vinyl records — is consistent with the bundled monthly subscription model the label employed.

As with other issues in the series, this release functions as a snapshot of what the Flying Vinyl curators were selecting from emerging and independent artists during that particular month in early 2017. Beyond the tracklist, label information, catalog designation, and format, further details about this specific issue remain unconfirmed and are not addressed here.
