Flying Vinyl: November 2017

Listening notes

Flying Vinyl: November 2017 arrived as Issue 30 of the Flying Vinyl subscription series, released in 2017 on the Flying Vinyl (2) label. The release takes the form of a box set containing multiple vinyl records, with ten tracks spread across sides A through J.

The tracklist moves through a wide range of listed genres, among them electro, electronic, experimental, folk, world and country, indie pop, indie rock, noise, pop, and rock. Whether that breadth reflects careful curation or simply the natural spread of a monthly discovery service is a question the catalogue entry alone cannot answer. What the format does confirm is that the November 2017 edition committed to physical variety, distributing its ten tracks — "Heathen," "White Whale," "Come Along," "Mind Of Rocks," "Reformation," "Heartfelt," "All In My Mind," "Reverie," "The Bay," and "Angel (Acoustic)" — across individual sides rather than consolidating them onto fewer records.

The inclusion of an acoustic version of "Angel" on side J is a minor point of note, suggesting at least one track was presented in an alternate arrangement distinct from another recorded form, though what that other form is or who performed it falls outside what the verified data confirms.

No track durations are listed in the available catalogue information, so the overall runtime of the box set cannot be stated with confidence. Artist attributions for individual tracks are similarly absent from the verified facts, meaning the various contributors to this compilation remain unidentified here.

As a snapshot of the Flying Vinyl subscription model at its thirtieth issue, the November 2017 box set represents a documented point in the label's output, formatted for collectors who received new music pressed to vinyl on a monthly basis. Beyond that structural description, this draft defers further claims to the fact checker.
