Head To Head (Kickin Vs Vinyl)

Listening notes

Head To Head (Kickin Vs Vinyl) is a various artists compilation released on Kickin Records in 1990, carrying the catalog number KV 1. Issued on vinyl, the release spans four sides across what the format and track layout indicate is a double record, with two tracks assigned to each side.

The compilation draws from the genres of breakbeat, electronic, hardcore, and techno, placing it within the broader landscape of early UK dance music at the turn of the decade. The title frames the release as a confrontation or meeting point between Kickin Records and Vinyl, though the precise meaning of that pairing is not elaborated upon in the available information.

The eight tracks are distributed evenly across the four sides. Side A opens with The Exorcist in a Visual Mix, followed by X-Static. Side B carries Crack Train in a Club Mix and 5,6,7,8 in an Original Mix. Side C presents Whitelight, noted explicitly as a Previously Unreleased Mix, alongside My First Memory in an X-Clusive Mix. Side D closes the release with Soundclash in a Hyper Mix and Inner Mind, subtitled Club Mind.

Several of the tracks are identified by mix designations — Visual Mix, Club Mix, Original Mix, Previously Unreleased Mix, X-Clusive Mix, and Hyper Mix — suggesting the compilation was assembled with some attention to presenting specific versions rather than simply repackaging existing material. The Previously Unreleased Mix notation on Whitelight is the most explicit of these distinctions. No track durations are available in the verified data.

Individual artist credits for each track are not included in the confirmed information, and no further personnel details can be stated here. This draft requires fact-checker review before publication.
