Lower Vinyl Vol. 2

Listening notes

Lower Vinyl Vol. 2 is a four-track vinyl release issued by Lower East Records in 2011 under catalog number LOW015. The record is the second entry in the label's Lower Vinyl compilation series and sits within the electronic and house genres.

The A-side opens with a Robert James remix of "Over You," running just over seven minutes at 7:21. It is followed by "Cruiser" in a Waifs & Strays Deep Decargo Retour Mix, clocking in at 6:55. The B-side carries "This Feeling" at 6:03, with the side closing on "D.B.A," a track designated as a vinyl exclusive and the longest cut on the record at 8:04.

That vinyl exclusive designation on "D.B.A" is a notable detail for collectors and format enthusiasts. It signals that the track was made available on this pressing in a form not replicated across other formats at the time of release, which is a distinction worth noting for anyone building a complete picture of the label's output from this period.

The release reflects a format philosophy common to underground electronic labels of the era, presenting extended mixes suited to the running times vinyl allows per side. The presence of credited remixers — Robert James and Waifs & Strays — alongside original material gives the record a varied character across its four positions without straying from its house and electronic footing.

Lower East Records used the catalog number sequence LOW015 for this release, placing it within a numbered run that helps situate the compilation chronologically within the label's catalog. For researchers or collectors tracing the label's history, this numbering offers a straightforward reference point.
