Megatech Body. Picture Vinyl., Ltd.

Listening notes

Released in 1997 on Sony Records, Megatech Body is a limited picture vinyl release catalogued as XBJS 91001. The record spans six tracks across two sides, with a total runtime of approximately 37 minutes.

Side A opens with "Ghost In The Shell" at 6:43, followed by "Down Loader" at 6:18, and closes with "Section 9 Theme" at 6:01. Side B carries "Fuchi Koma" at 5:09, "Spook & Spell (Slow Version)" at 6:30, and "To Be Or Not To Be (Off The Cuff Mix)" at 7:00, the longest track on the release.

The genres assigned to the record span a notably wide range: electro, electronic, techno, trip hop, stage and screen, and video game music. That breadth of classification reflects the cross-media territory the titles suggest, with track names such as "Ghost In The Shell," "Section 9 Theme," and "Fuchi Koma" pointing toward the Ghost in the Shell franchise. The inclusion of stage and screen and video game music alongside dance-oriented genres like techno and trip hop indicates material drawn from or connected to that property, though the precise nature of each track's origin is a matter for further verification.

The release is identified as a picture vinyl and as a limited edition, both of which are noted in the title itself. It was issued under Sony Records' catalog, placing it within the label's Japanese market output of the period, given the catalog prefix conventions associated with Sony's Japanese releases at the time.

Track titles such as "Spook & Spell (Slow Version)" and "To Be Or Not To Be (Off The Cuff Mix)" carry variant designations, suggesting alternate or remixed versions exist or existed alongside these, though no additional release data is available here to confirm that.
