Metal Gear Solid: The Vinyl Collection

Listening notes

Released in 2024 on Laced Records (catalog number LMLP217X), Metal Gear Solid: The Vinyl Collection is a six-LP box set drawing from across the Metal Gear series. It falls under the Stage & Screen and Video Game Music genres and spans twelve sides of vinyl, cataloged from A through L.

The tracklist is substantial, running to more than fifty individual titles. The collection opens with "Metal Gear 20 Years History - Past, Present, Future -" at fourteen minutes and twenty-two seconds, the longest single track on the set, followed by "Virtuous Mission" at just over six minutes. Side B includes the well-known title "Snake Eater" alongside "Don't Be Afraid" and the eight-minute "Who Am I Really? - Memories Of Hal - Reminiscence." Sides C and D carry a range of pieces including "Can't Say Goodbye To Yesterday," "The Best Is Yet To Come," and both standard and piano versions of "Calling To The Night."

The middle records move through medley formats, with dedicated entries for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Metal Gear Online, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker occupying portions of sides E, G, and H. Sides I and J focus on material associated with The Phantom Pain era, including "Quiet's Theme," "Sins Of The Father," and "A Phantom Pain."

The final two sides, K and L, are organized under the internal groupings "Solid Sneaking" and "Vs. Boss," collecting shorter cues. These include loop-style pieces such as "Fortress Sneaking," "Twilight Sniping," and "Hide-out" on side K, and boss-associated tracks such as "Olga Gurlukovich," "Laughing Octopus," and "Metallic Archaea" on side L.

One tracklist entry, "Solid Sneaking," appears without a position or duration, and the same applies to "Vs. Boss." Fact checker should verify whether these are disc labels, side headers, or tracks with missing data.
