Various
More Shades (The Real House Sound Of Black Vinyl Records Volume 2)

Listening notes

More Shades (The Real House Sound Of Black Vinyl Records Volume 2) is a various artists compilation released in 2001 on Black Vinyl Records under catalog number BVRCD003. It is catalogued under the genres of deep house, electronic, and house, and its designation as Volume 2 places it as a sequel to an earlier entry in the label's compilation series.

The release is a two-disc CD set. The first disc is an unmixed collection of nine tracks, each presented as a discrete, timed piece. Running times on that disc range from six minutes and forty-nine seconds for "Power 2 Tha People" to ten minutes and nineteen seconds for "Dreamwalker (Dancin In Our Sleep Mix)," a spread consistent with extended club-oriented formatting. Other tracks on the unmixed disc include "Spirit (Spiritual Vocal Mix)," "Sunshine (Lenny Fontaine's Classic Vocal Remix)," "Friend Of The Blues," "Roots (Blak Beat Niks Tribal Rhythms Mix)," "Mi Destino (Eddy & Dus Kontrapunkt Mix)," "Need U," and "The Right Level."

The second disc is presented as a bonus mixed CD, containing thirteen sequenced entries including an intro and outro. It draws on much of the same material as the first disc while incorporating additional titles not found there, among them "Give Up The Dubb," "Warehouse Daze," and "Sunshine (Eddy & Dus Blue Clave Remix)." The mixed format and the presence of dub and alternate versions of several tracks — including "Dreamwalker (Extended E-Dub)" and "Friend Of The Blues (Friend Of The Dub)" — suggest the second disc was conceived as a continuous listening experience rather than a track-by-track reference. No individual track durations are listed for the second disc.
