Motorheadz Vinyl Sampler

Listening notes

Released in 2012 on Motormouth Recordz, the Motorheadz Vinyl Sampler (MOUTH06) is a five-track compilation issued on vinyl and catalogued under the label's sixth release. Spanning the electronic subgenres of gabber and hardcore, the record presents a straightforward sampler format across two sides.

Side A opens with "The Sightings" at five minutes and seven seconds, followed by "Tweek N Pound" at five minutes and eleven seconds, making the first side the longer of the two at just over ten minutes of total runtime. Side B carries three tracks: "Desyrel" at four minutes and fifty-two seconds, "Draw Down" at four minutes and twenty-two seconds, and "Radiate Others" at four minutes and thirty-four seconds, bringing the B-side to approximately thirteen minutes and forty-eight seconds. The full record runs to roughly twenty-four minutes across its five selections.

The sampler format, as suggested by the title, positions this release as an introductory or promotional document for the Motorheadz name under the Motormouth Recordz imprint. The catalog number MOUTH06 places it as the sixth release in that sequence, indicating a label with some prior output by the time this record appeared. The chosen genres — gabber and hardcore within the broader electronic category — situate the release within the harder end of the electronic music spectrum, a corner of vinyl culture that has maintained a dedicated collector and DJ-focused market.
