Listening notes

Released in 2017 on Square Enix Music (catalog number SQEX 10614-7), this vinyl box set brings together soundtrack selections from two related video games: NieR: Automata and NieR Gestalt & Replicant. The set spans eight sides across four records, with the first two records devoted to NieR: Automata and the remaining two to NieR Gestalt & Replicant.

The NieR: Automata portion occupies sides A through D, presenting sixteen tracks with titles rendered in both Japanese and English. These include "City Ruins - Rays of Light," "Birth of a Wish," "Amusement Park," "Copied City," and "Bipolar Nightmare," closing with the English-language vocal piece "Weight of the World." The NieR Gestalt & Replicant portion fills sides E through H across twenty-two tracks, among them "Snow in Summer," "Hills of Radiant Winds," two versions of "Song of the Ancients," and the English-language closing track "Ashes of Dreams." Several titles appear in variant arrangements, including a piano version of "Dispossession" and a plucked string version of "Yonah."

The set is catalogued under an unusually broad range of genres, among them ambient, electronic, classical, modern classical, neo-classical, Celtic, folk, gagaku, downtempo, experimental, and score, reflecting the range of musical approaches represented across the two source soundtracks.

Track durations are not listed for any selection. No composer, arranger, or performer credits are available in the verified data for this entry. Prospective buyers and researchers should consult primary sources for personnel details, pressing specifications, and any additional release information.
