NieR Gestalt & Replicant Original Soundtrack Vinyl

Listening notes

Released in 2017 on Square Enix Music (catalog number SQEX-10612-3), the NieR Gestalt & Replicant Original Soundtrack Vinyl is a double-LP presentation of music from the NieR video game titles. The release spreads twenty tracks across four sides, moving from the opening "Snow In Summer" on Side A through to "Ashes Of Dreams / New," which closes Side D.

The tracklist reflects a score that draws from an unusually wide range of stylistic territories. Square Enix Music's own genre classifications for this release include ambient, Celtic, classical, downtempo, electronic, experimental, folk, modern classical, neo-classical, and video game music, among others. That breadth is evident even in the track titles alone: "Song Of The Ancients / Devola" and its counterpart "Song Of The Ancients / Fate" appear on separate sides, as do two distinct Emil tracks — "Emil / Karma" on Side C and "Emil / Sacrifice" on Side D. "Kainé / Salvation," "Grandma," "The Wretched Automatons," and "Deep Crimson Foe" round out Side B, while Side C also includes "Temple Of Drifting Sands" and "Cold Steel Coffin." Side D concludes with "Shadowlord's Castle / Roar," "Shadowlord," and the closing "Ashes Of Dreams / New."

Track durations are not listed for any selection on this release.

The vinyl format places this soundtrack in a physical medium distinct from its earlier CD counterparts, though the specific circumstances of this edition's production are not documented in the available information. Collectors and enthusiasts interested in this release should consult primary sources for details regarding pressing specifications, personnel, and availability.
