Operation Pudel 2001 - Vinyl 04

Listening notes

Operation Pudel 2001 - Vinyl 04 was released in 2001 on L'Age D'Or under catalog number LADO 15067-0. It is the fourth vinyl installment in what the title identifies as a series connected to the Operation Pudel name, placing it within a compilation format that draws from various contributors rather than a single artist.

The release is cataloged under the genres of Electro, Electronic, Leftfield, and Minimal, a combination that situates it within the broader late-1990s and early-2000s European electronic music landscape in which these overlapping styles were frequently assembled for club and collector audiences alike.

The record is pressed across two sides, designated G and H, suggesting it forms part of a multi-disc set rather than a standalone two-sided release. Side G opens with "Wintergospel," the longest track at 6 minutes and 42 seconds, followed by "Reichsein" at 3:22, "Myriam" at 3:40, and "Truckdriver, Truckdriver" at 3:23. Side H carries "Kronen" at 4:15 and closes with "In Love With," which at 9 minutes and 27 seconds is the record's most extended piece and occupies a substantial portion of the side's runtime.

The track titles are notably varied in register, mixing German-language words and phrases with English and what appears to be a given name, a characteristic that may reflect the multilingual environment common to European electronic compilations of the period, though no further context for the individual tracks or their contributors is available here.

L'Age D'Or served as the issuing label, and the release year of 2001 places it at a moment when minimal and leftfield electronic music were receiving considerable attention across the continent. Beyond these structural and bibliographic details, this draft does not make claims that the available facts cannot support.
