Power Vinyl 2

Listening notes

Power Vinyl 2 is a four-track vinyl release issued by Bonzai Records in 1995 under catalog number BR 95075. The record sits across the electronic, hard trance, hardcore, and techno genres, placing it within the harder end of the electronic spectrum that Bonzai Records was active in during the mid-1990s.

The release carries two tracks per side. The A-side opens with "Recactussed (Fouth Level Mix)" at 4:43, followed by "Soushkin (Original Mix)" at 6:31, making it the longest track on the record. The B-side presents "Rave Zone (Original Mix)" at 5:15 and closes with "Woops (Original Mix)" at 4:16. All three tracks identified as original mixes appear alongside the single labeled mix variant on the A-side.

As the title suggests, this record is the second entry in Bonzai's Power Vinyl series, indicating the label had already established the series prior to this release. Bonzai Records, operating out of Belgium, was a prominent imprint in the European electronic and rave scene during this period, releasing material across related hard electronic subgenres.

The total runtime across all four tracks amounts to approximately twenty minutes and forty-five seconds of music, which is consistent with standard vinyl formatting for dance releases of the era. The split between an original mix and a named alternate mix on the A-side reflects a common practice in electronic single and EP releases of the 1990s.
